Dear passenger, this year Switzerland celebrates 100 years of air transportation. In 1910, the aeronautic pioneers heralded the start of an unequalled development in Swiss aviation with great courage and zest for action. Nowadays flying has become very much everyday. And yet I continue to be impressed every time when, as a pilot, I carry out a post-flight check on an airplane, by the incredible technological advances the machine represents and the undeniable reliability with which 230 tonnes takes to the air and lands again safely. This of course is very different from earlier times when the crew was constantly confronted with the technology of the day. Today our concern is focused on making the experience as comfortable as possible for our passengers, and to be a competent and reliable partner in the air and perhaps if we are lucky to maybe bring across a little of the fascination of flying from the pioneers from those days of yore.
